Buyer Reynier van Seller
Buyer Family Seller (Zeller), Reynier van
Buyer Notes On 12 October 1596, Reynier van Zeller, from Nijmegen, having lived in the Warmoesstraet for 15 years, no living parents, was betrothed to Aeltgen Geenen, 20, assisted by her father Geen Symonsz. and her mother Ael Buysken (DTB 664/215). In 1606 when he bought lots for 5 f. 8 st. in the Haarlem lottery, he was still living in the Warmoesstraet, in het Cromhout of Trompet (GAA, 87/11 F 651). His maid Anneken Stevens also bought one lot for 6 st. (GAA, 87/37 F 654). He was an important wine dealer and perhaps also a merchant engaged in overseas trade. On 22 April 1599, he was informed that a letter of exchange that he had issued for 50 Fl. pounds, payable in Dantzig, had been protested (Winkelman, Bronnen voor de geschiedenis van de Nederlandse Oostzeehandel, R.G.P., 178(1981), pp. 138-9). On 13 January 1618 and 20 October 1620, he made depositions, together with other wine dealers, concerning common issues in the trade (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven 78(1933), p. 269 and pp. 507-8). On 29 April 1627, Aeltgen Gheen, widow of Reynier van Zeller, and Cornelis Dircx Cool (cited in the NOTES to R 32237), as guardian and curator of Maritgen, 13, were cited in an appearance before the WK, concerning assets inherited by the child. In 1631, the widow, living on or near the Papenbruchsteech, which was probably still her old address on the Warmoesstraet, was taxed 180 f. The widow was listed next to Frederick Leecker, another wine dealer (100 f.) of R 20488. (Kohier, fol. 141 vo., p. 33).
